Are you an experienced HR professional looking for a flexible working opportunity that allows you to make a real impact? Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (CHFT) is seeking a part-time HR Business Partner (HRBP) to join our team within the Surgery & Anaesthetics Division on a job-share basis, working 2 days per week alongside the current HRBP.

As the HRBP for the Surgery & Anaesthetics Division, you will provide senior-level Workforce and Organisational Development support, working closely with divisional leaders to align HR strategies with key service delivery objectives. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a part-time capacity while still contributing significantly to the Trust's goals. You will partner with the Senior Management Team and lead a dedicated HR team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality HR services that support workforce planning, recruitment, employee relations, and staff engagement. You will share responsibilities with the current HRBP, ensuring a seamless and consistent HR service across the Division

About us

We employ more than 6,500 staffwho deliver compassionate care from our two main hospitals,Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as well as in community sites, healthcentres and in patients' homes. We also are incredibly proud to have almost 150 volunteers here at CHFT.

We provide a range of services including urgent and emergency care medical surgical maternity gynaecology critical care children's and young people's services end of life care and outpatient and diagnostic imaging services.

We provide community health services, including sexual health services in Calderdale from Calderdale Royal and local health centres. These include Todmorden Health Centre and Broad Street Plaza.

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop strong business relationships with divisional leaders and managers to implement workforce plans and HR strategies aligned with the Division's objectives.
  • Lead, in partnership with the job-share HRBP, a dedicated HR team in the Surgery & Anaesthetics Division.
  • Provide expert advice on complex HR issues, including employee relations, employment law, and workforce development.
  • Oversee HR metrics, such as sickness absence, recruitment, and agency spend, to support service efficiency.
  • Champion Trust values and best practices, promoting collaboration and innovation across HR functions.

What Were Looking For:

We are seeking a dynamic, experienced HR leader who excels in collaboration and can effectively manage key HR functions in a job-share arrangement. You will bring experience from a senior HR role, ideally within the NHS or a similar large, complex organisation.

Person Specification

QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING

Essential

  • Educated to post graduate degree level in a HR related field or able to demonstrate appropriate equivalent experience
  • MCIPD qualified or equivalent level management qualification
  • Ability to demonstrate completion of leadership courses and have relevant experience working at a senior level providing HR advice


Desirable

  • Advanced Microsoft Office qualification in Excel / Access
  • Accredited coach/mentor

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE

Essential

  • Significant experience in a senior HR role in a large diverse organisation including experience of HR service delivery and performance management
  • Clear understanding of the major issues affecting the NHS HR agenda
  • Experience of contributing to strategy development
  • Experience of delivering coaching / training to managers
  • Significant experience / knowledge of employment law and its application in employment practice
  • Experience of leading the management of change
  • Experience of negotiating policy development / T& C's with trade union reps, full time officers
  • Demonstrable evidence of continuous development
  • Able to build credibility quickly and to work with all grades of staff within the Trust
  • Evidence of IT training / short courses / demonstrable experience
  • Willingness to undertake any further training/ development as identified in annual appraisal
