An exciting opportunity is available to be seconded to our team with the project improving student's mental health by working in partnerships. This is funded by Office for Students.

The successful candidate will be fully trained in U-COPE which offers rapid access for students who may be self harming to therapy using a blended model of psychodynamic interventions (PIT) and cognitive analytical therapy (CAT). We support students studying and University of Liverpool and John Moores University with UCOPE, practitioners receive fortnightly supervision from a clinical psychologist.

We provide a liaison service and work closely with Mersey Care NHS front line services which students frequently access. University students tend to seek help out of hours calling the urgent care services. The liaison role enables us to reach these students and align them the service that can best meet their needs and signposting them as required

Main duties of the job

To support University support services and Mersey Care services who come into contact with university students.

To conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of patients where needed

To support the clinical management of individuals within UCOPE which could include assessment and engagement; individual or group preparation and treatment, support and follow up of individual clients.

Provide four psychologically informed follow up Brief Intervention for Self-Harm - (Psychodynamic Interpersonal Therapy sessions, delete this). This will be though the delivery a brief 4 session psychological intervention (based on Psychodynamic Interpersonal Therapy and Cognitive Analytic Therapy) with a one session follow up. Applicants are not expected to be experienced or trained therapists as training will be delivered once recruitment has occurred. However, applicant swill be chosen on the basis of high level interpersonal skills.

To deliver a rapid access to UCOPE therapy

To offer liaison for students who present to a Mersey Care service linking them in with the right identified support and signposting as required

To develop partnership working with the Universities in the Liverpool area

To attend regular MDT meetings with university support services

Take a lead with specific management tasks, monitoring and improving standards of care plans offered to this service user group

Working in a collaborative manner across partnerships, i.e. Mersey Care, acute services, non statutory services which promote service user involvement in all aspects of the organisation.

Person Specification Essential and Desireable Essential

• 2 years post qualification clinical working
• registered mental health practitioners and have significant mental health experience
• Evidence of leadership and management skills
• Ability to work autonomously across the organisation/boundaries and with other agencies
• Ability to build purposeful relationships with a range of both internal and external to the organisation
• Interest in developing a project and able to manage the uncertainty of the role

Desirable

• Experience of working with young people
• Training in psychological therapies is provided but prior knowledge of therapy modalities and brief interventions is desirable
• Applicants should have an interest in formulating self-harm from a psychological perspective, considering how this may link with how a person relates to others and themselves
• An understanding of the challenges that face University students
