An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 experienced RMN to join the SIPU Ward team, male and female MH treatment ward, within Scarisbrick Mental Health Inpatients.

This Senior Nurse role will appeal to nurses who are keen to support patients in who are experiencing significant difficulties with their mental health, providing input to their recovery on a day to day basis.

An ability to work both collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team is essential, advocating for patients, and supporting colleagues in providing high standards of care and safety.

You will possess skills in leadership, ad ability to role model, coach and mentor junior colleagues and students, providing supervision and engagement. You will relish the role of senior nurse, leading by example and supporting colleagues and teams in overcoming challenges and problem solving any complex clinical issues.

Main duties of the job

Inpatient wards / units are designed to meet the acute holistic needs of service users/patients and carers, in a recovery focussed environment. This working environment is conducive to staff development and wellbeing. The post holder will support staff members in the assessment, planning and provision of care in line with national and local nursing and health and safety policy. The post holder will exercise professional accountability and responsibility demonstrating use of professional skills, knowledge and expertise in the provision of high quality care. There is an expectation that the post holder will utilise research audit and enquiry to lead improvements in care.

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse qualification
  • On-going registration with the NMC.
  • Specialist qualification or equivalent level in skills and development
Knowledge Essential
  • Knowledge and practice of Mental Health Act 1983
  • Knowledge and practice of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
  • Knowledge of common physical health conditions
Experience Essential
  • Experience of assessing, planning and implementing and reviewing care needs
  • Experience of interacting therapeutically with distress and /or disturbed individuals
