EXCITING OPPORTUNITY, NOT TO BE MISSED!

We are a low secure adolescent unit offering up to 14 beds to young people, who require mental health care in a low secure setting. Therefore, we are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and creative occupational therapist.

****To attract the best talent we offer a generous relocation package as well as a Golden Hello of £2,500 (This offer is only available to external candidates and does not apply to current HIOW NHS staff)****

The Role

The successful candidate will be part of the Occupational Therapy Service and work with the wider multi-disciplinary team (MDT). The post holder will work closely with young people, their families, friends, and carers. There are a range of interventions that you will provide for the young people. This might include working with young people individually or in group, in the unit and the community.

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist with a minimum of three years post graduate experience with an interest in working with young people. The post holder will work as part of an expansive MDT offering Occupational Therapy assessment, interventions and discharge planning based within the VdT Model of Creative Ability, Model of Human Occupation and Sensory Integration Principles. The post holder will carry a small caseload and be involved in providing some leadership for the occupational therapy team with the close support of the Occupational Therapy Team Manager and the Advanced Occupational Therapy Practitioner.

Austen House form part of the CAMHS services within Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, therefore, there is plenty of opportunity to network with other occupational therapists in the service. We have a comprehensive CPD Programme and training opportunities to work within the models of practice which we promote.

The Occupational Therapy Team have excellent facilities, many of which are shared with our Education Team. Facilities include a Sensory Room, Sensory Garden, ADL kitchen, fitness suite, games room, vocational workshop, and music room.

The successful candidate will need to have good communication skills and be able to demonstrate a caring, supportive and flexible approach to working. Experience in child and adolescent mental health services and sensory integration principles is not essential, however having a young outlook is.

The post requires that you are able to work flexible hours to meeting the needs of the service. This is a full time post but part time / job share will be considered.
