Applications are invited for a Consultant post in the Department of Clinical Neurophysiology at Barts Health NHS Trust to commence from January 2025.
The post holder will provide EEG reporting for inpatients and outpatients, including adult and paediatric cases. The post holder will also perform EMGs for inpatients and outpatients using baseline and complex neurophysiology techniques, covering adult and paediatric cases. The post holder will be involved in departmental meetings and will provide teaching to neurophysiology registrar and healthcare technicians. They will also be involved in leading audit activity and a quality improvement projects, as well as pursuing other areas of personal academic interest
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate professional, excellent and efficient delivery of care. They will need to agree levels of activity and throughput in the outpatient departments with the Service Manager and Neurosciences Clinical Director.
The post holder will be expected to work closely with the General Manager and the Neurosciences Clinical Director to be active in promoting changes which improve the delivery of service to all patients in the Trust.
o To contribute to the provision of a comprehensive and efficient Clinical Neurophysiology service
o To share responsibility with all consultant colleagues for providing evidence-based standards of care for all inpatients and outpatients
o To have regard at all times to clinical and quality standards.
o To liaise effectively and on a timely basis with all practitioners who refer patients for investigation and treatment
o To maintain and promote team and multi-disciplinary work with the specialties working closely and regularly with Neurosurgery
o To encourage and foster clinical governance at clinical, managerial and medical levels and to take part in regional audit in support of evidence-based medicine.
o Responsibility for the care of patients in their charge including administrative duties associated with patient care.
