This post is a rare opportunity to lead the psychological provision in an established medium secure unit within BSMHFT which serves the Midlands area. Reaside Clinic is a 90-bedded MSU within the expanding/ innovative Secure Care and Offender Health directorate. This post reflects a leadership role in the management of services and the strategic development of psychological service provision as part of achieving safe, effective, valued clinical and service pathways, to support recovery and rehabilitation. Your leadership, innovation, management and research pedigree will be an asset to provide care to people with complex problems and a history of risk to themselves and others.
You'll be part of a large community of psychological professionals including psychologists, art/music therapists . You will be part of and lead projects that meet the needs of service users, key strategic targets for the directorate and also develop your interests in delivering comprehensive, recovery focused, high quality packages of care. We will value your ability to bring your personal/professional experience, integrating these with your knowledge to ensure psychological provision is of a high quality and evidence based. We have a history of supporting staff innovation to develop services combining the needs of the community and staff interests, whilst partnering with local and national services.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, resilient and innovative Clinical and/or Forensic psychologist who is interested in managing, leading and developing services and people, as well as undertaking clinical and therapeutic work with highly complex individuals. A commitment to developing psychologically minded and well-informed professional teams is key and successful candidates will have good compassionate leadership skills, excellent time management, report writing, communication and organisational skills. Experience of secure environments, inpatients and community pathways for this service user group is desirable.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical / counselling psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS
- Training in clinical supervision and professional supervision of doctoral trainees &, psychological professionals
- Evidence of continuing relevant professional development sufficient to ensure continued professional registration
- Substantial assessed experience of working as a registered psychological professional in the service area with which this post is concerned.
- Experience of highly specialist psychological assessment and individual and group-based treatment of clients across the full range of care settings
- Experience of working therapeutically with 'difficult to treat' clients
- Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
- Experience of the multi-professional management of teams or services within the designated speciality
- Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of the field of psychology/psychotherapy consistent with doctoral level (or equivalent) professional training
- Skills in the use of highly complex methods of psychological assessment commensurate with doctoral level training, including specialist clinical interviewing, behavioural observation, complex psychometric testing and specialist neuropsychological testing.
- Advanced skills, in the formulation of highly complex problems from a psychological perspective and in the implementation of highly specialist psychological therapies, interventions and management techniques that are appropriate for use with highly complex presenting problems.
