An opportunity has arisen to recruit Charge Nurses within the Acute Mental Health Inpatient Service at Campbell Centre.

We are looking for an experienced senior nurses with sound leadership skills to ensure the effective clinical management of acute services.

The successful applicants should be Registered Mental Nurses or Registered Nurse Learning Disability Nurses with relevant post registration experience within mental health services.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to work flexibly, leading a team of registered and unregistered staff, able to demonstrate sound clinical experienced decision making based on current theoretical knowledge and the ability to manage difficult clinical situations.

The successful candidate will work as part of the ward management team, providing ongoing supervision and support to a group of staff to ensure high standards of care and the effective management of acute services with an emphasis on safety, IPC and ensuring accurate recording of information.

Job description Job responsibilities

The postholder will be responsible for leading the nursing team and ensuring a high quality of patient care. The Charge Nurse will work with the staff to ensure that the process of assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation of care is of an excellent standard.

The postholder will work to support the Ward Manager by active involvement in service development.

The post holder will demonstrate active clinical and managerial leadership skills within the team, providing education and supervision to junior staff members and other professionals

The post holder will undertake the role of unit coordinator with responsibility for liaising with internal and external agencies out of hours including accepting patients to the Health Base Place of Safety (S136 Suite)

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Professional Qualification (Mental Health/Learning Disabilities/General) to degree level or equivalent.
  • Further specialist knowledge/post registration experience in specific service area or other formal training
Experience Essential
  • Can demonstrate post registration experience.
  • Demonstrates satisfactory clinical expertise for the banding.
Knowledge Essential
  • Knowledge and understanding of current legislation and understanding of clinical risk assessments
Physical Requirements Essential
  • Able to undertake training in the management of violence reduction
