We are seeking to recruit a skilled and experienced Play therapist to join our CAMHS under 14's team in Norfolk and Waveney. We have a 30 hours per week vacancy in our Central team, based at Mary Chapman House, Norwich.

We are looking for someone with experience of delivering Play Therapy to children and young people, as well as a broader comprehensive range of skills and knowledge to deliver the additional clinical aspects of the role. You will have excellent communication skills both verbal and written and enjoy being part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be required to provide specialist evidenced based assessment and therapeutic intervention to children and young people with mental health difficulties. We are currently working to implement newly aligned treatment pathways and have identified a gap in our play therapy provision.

You will be expected to work autonomously within professional guidelines, however will be a valued member of a multi-disciplinary team. You will at times offer advice and consultation on young people's psychological care to colleagues and other agencies. To support your role in the team you will be provided with regular clinician supervision and opportunities for training and development.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Masters level/professional Play Therapy qualification
  • Registration with a professional body as a Play Therapist


Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of providing all aspects of Play Psychotherapy to clients, carers and significant others.
  • Group work in mental health


Desirable

  • Service development Training and ability to deliver other therapeutic approaches e.g. DBT, EMDR, IPT


Skills

Essential

  • Able to demonstrate a flexible enabling approach to service delivery


Knowledge

Essential

  • Advanced knowledge of a range of Play Psychotherapy evidence based interventions used in the effective intervention in mental health problems
  • Awareness of other therapeutic approaches and application

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is the main provider of specialist mental health services for the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, serving a population of 1.6 million people.
