We are recruiting for a Children's Safeguarding Specialist Nurse/Lead Trainer who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
An exciting opportunity to join a dynamic safeguarding team has arisen. We require a dynamic, highly motivated and committed practitioner to work with health and multi agency colleagues to ensure the provision of safe and effective services to safeguard vulnerable children across Hertfordshire.
The post holder will be a fundamental part of the safeguarding team and work closely with the Trust leads to ensure that the safeguarding of children remains at the heart of practice. Working with teams across the organisation you will be responsible for providing knowledge and expertise in all aspects of safeguarding children in the acute and community setting.
The post holder will be responsible for maintaining a high level of Safeguarding Children Training offer across the service and driving key improvements across the service.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to provide expertise and knowledge demonstrating a sound understanding the issues relating to the identification, assessment and treatment, management of vulnerable children and families.
This includes involvement in monitoring and improving standards of care through supervision of practice, clinical audit and evidence-based practice, teaching and supporting professional colleagues contributing to the Safeguarding governance process across the Trust.
The post holder will provide clinical support and guidance to staff within the hospital and community setting: this will include supporting staff in formulating appropriate, quality referrals to social care case management and supervision, and actively participate on the on-call child protection medical rota.
The post holder is responsible for providing all levels of safeguarding training across the Trust, conducting education needs assessments and developing and delivering training programmes to a high standard.
The role will work in collaboration with the Named Nurse and in accordance with the Government guidance' Working Together to Safeguard Children on behalf of the Trust and to ensure staff are aware of and implement safeguarding children's legislation, policies and procedures and signposting staff to resources appropriately.
To undertake research/audit, evidence-based practice and performance based evaluation

- Extensive knowledge of National and Local NHS, N& M and safeguarding agenda
- Experience in Children's Healthcare/HV/Maternity setting with evidence of leadership qualities.
- Safeguarding knowledge related to legal frameworks, including information sharing & interagency working arrangements to safeguard children.
- Demonstrate knowledge relevant to patterns of abuse and/or neglect
- Working knowledge of children's health and development - and the impact of child maltreatment.
