Ealing Recovery Intervention Services Ealing Specialty Doctor in Psychiatry 6 Sessions per week
Do you want to work in an enthusiastic team with a vibrant and experienced MDT delivering addiction treatment?
CNWL is looking for a passionate and committed Speciality Grade doctor to join our Ealing service. Ealing RISE (Recovery Intervention Services Ealing) is a multi-agency, multi-disciplinary service, providing treatment to Ealing residents presenting with drug and alcohol problems.
The applicant will be an enthusiastic doctor who is keen to work with this marginalized patient group and can work collaboratively within a dynamic, innovative service and with our partner agencies. There are significant opportunities for personal development.
The post holder will work in the RISE community team based in Ealing Sector of the Addictions Directorate. The service is a partnership between CNWL NHS FT Trust and organisations from the third sector. These partners include a third sector organisation Change Grow Live (CGL), and a service user led organisations Build on Belief (BoB) providing recovery support /rehabilitating patients in the community. The Lead Contractor is CGL with CNWL subcontracted to provide clinical services.
The post holder is an integral part of a large team that includes a Consultant Psychiatrist, senior psychiatry trainee, another Speciality Doctor, NMPs, nurses, psychologists, recovery practitioners ( care coordinators) and outreach workers.
Main duties of the job
The post comprises a 06-session (PA) working week. Clinical duties will be delegated and supervised by the Consultant Psychiatrist who works part time. Appropriate time is allocated to Supporting Professional Activities, which includes Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities such as quality improvement, research and training. The post is primarily based at the main hub of the service in West Ealing currently and the post holder will also be working some sessions in the service hub in Southall. CNWL's Addiction Directorate is a large, well-established, multidisciplinary NHS provider offering a wide range of high-quality addictions services to the diverse and multicultural population of London and Milton Keyes. In addition to borough-based addiction treatment services, we also provide a club drug clinic, as well as gambling and gaming addiction services.
We provide services to the residents of 4 London boroughs: Brent, Ealing, Hillingdon and Hounslow, as well as Milton Keynes. Our addictions treatment services offer recovery-focussed interventions within vibrant community-based multi-disciplinary teams and in partnership with non-statutory providers. In addition, we provide a National Problem Gambling & Gaming Clinic and a Club Drug Clinic. We provide an addiction treatment service at HMP Woodhill. We host a Professor of Addiction Biology at Imperial College, Prof. Anne Lingford-Hughes.

Job responsibilities
To work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and participate in patient assessment and the delivery and evaluation of treatment. Responsibilities include assessment of new patients, review of existing patients and planning treatment with keyworkers
To be responsible for day-to-day medical assessment and decision-making.
To liaise closely with patients keyworkers, who will be primarily responsible for coordinating their care
To provide clinical advice to team members on a 1:1 basis and within MDT meetings
To manage patients undergoing detoxification (either community or inpatient) for drug and/or alcohol dependence
To initiate, stabilise and maintain patients on opiate substitute treatment (OST)
To undertake mental health reviews on patients
To provide health care appropriate to the patients physical health needs by examination and make appropriate referrals to medical colleagues/GPs
To provide support to designated and prospective Non-Medical Prescribers and work with the Addictions Lead Nurse to develop these roles and relevant governance arrangements
To participate in providing training to staff as well as students (medical, nursing and social work) attending the service
