We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, dynamic, and highly motivated Band 8a Community Operational Manager to manage some of the specialist teams across the Trust.

The position is to manage the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Perinatal Teams, Beacon Maternal Mental Health team, The Herefordshire Assertive Outreach Team, and Partner Repatriation Team. These services already provide an invaluable, high functioning specialist role, but we see this post as key to ongoing service development.

As operational leader of our teams, you must have a positive attitude towards innovation and change and a flexible approach to quality improvement initiatives. You need excellent interpersonal, team working and leadership skills with a commitment to working collaboratively with our stakeholders.

You will value continuing professional and practice development, service improvement and evaluation and the development of meaningful outcomes with our service user population.

Main duties of the job

You will:

Be an effective manager with a track record of delivering on objectives, a demonstrable patient-centred ethic, and the drive to develop yourself along with your service.

Aim to provide the highest quality care for our service users and stakeholders.

Lead a community-based, recovery-orientated mental health team ensuring that all resources, including staff, are used and monitored effectively while remaining within an agreed budget.

Actively participate in planning and developing the team, in order to provide service users with a person-centred approach relevant to their needs and a recovery focus.

Exercise your own judgement in complex situations relating to service delivery or organisational matters and have a high level of autonomy day to day to make the necessary decisions.

Utilize your expert opinion to select from a range of options in any given situation.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Support the Primary Care and Community Mental Health Service Delivery Lead and the Community Leads in ensuring that the Specialist Teams will deliver the best possible outcomes to the people it serves, and provides an environment which staff enjoy working in.

Ensure that thresholds for key health and social care performance indicators relating to the quality of care for service-users and carers are met by regularly giving service users the opportunity to provide feedback. Use team/service performance data in providing an effective recovery focused service to improve quality of service as determined by customer satisfaction measures.

Lead on areas of service development and support Senior Management in delivering the strategic modernisation programme particularly the refocusing of the Specialist Mental Health Teams.

Qualifications

Essential

  • RMN, BSc/DipSW
  • Post Graduate Clinical Psychology Training
  • BSc/DipCOT
  • Recorded/registered qualification in a psychological therapy
  • Management qualification
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.


Experience

Essential

  • Minimum post qualification experience of 4 years working in a mental health setting.
  • Previous experience of managing in health or social care.
  • Working in a multi-disciplinary Team.
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision to staff.
  • Experience of managing HR issues.


Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Ability to challenge poor behaviour.

  • A positive attitude and able to act on feedback.
  • Ability to praise and be supportive to others.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of NHS or social care policy environment .
  • Knowledge and skills in recovery focused ways of working.
  • Knowledge of the mental health care agenda e.g. personalisation.
  • Knowledge of Trust policies both clinical and organisational.
  • Understanding of the performance and governance arrangements in the Service Unit.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding as it related to both adults and children


Desirable

  • Previous experience of supervising/managing multi-disciplinary staff group.
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision across different disciplines.
  • Experience of providing management supervision.
