We are looking to recruit into a 12 month fixed term post to support the Targeted Lung Health Check (TLHC) pathway.

With the additional demand on lung cancer services as a result of the TLHC rollout, it is recognised that additional capacity is required in lung diagnostics, in particular CT Guided Biopsy. In the TLHC business case, we committed to an additional 228 CT guided biopsies per year. With the recruitment of a Clinical Fellow to support a short-term increase in capacity, we are looking for an experienced project manager to work towards a long-term solution by monitoring sector wide utilisation of this key diagnostic with the potential for a networked approach to access.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for the development, delivery and coordination of the Targeted Lung Health Check (TLHC) pathway.
  • Establish and agree SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time bound) objectives with their team(s) and the Work stream Lead in order to ensure first time, on time delivery of projects.
  • Communicate highly complex, sensitive and contentious information on the progress of the projects to key stakeholders across North West London (NWL).
  • Liaise closely with all NWL organisations and other relevant groups and ensure that the project reflects current good and evidence-based principles.
  • Facilitate meetings of clinicians, managers, patients and other partners to agree priorities and action plans.
  • Maintain a balanced, delegated budget for the project, including appropriate understanding and implementation of standard financial instructions.
  • Provide and receive highly complex, sensitive and contentious information relating to the project.
  • Encourage creative thinking and innovative practice as well as developing robust methods of testing new ways of delivering patient care utilising expert knowledge of good practice tools and techniques such as process mapping, PDSA cycles and Impact Analysis Frameworks.

Person Specification

EDUCATION

Essential

  • Educated to first Degree
  • Significant senior management experience in NHS or similar
  • Evidence of Master's level study or currently in the process of completing one
  • Project management experience in the NHS or associated organisations managing complex projects


Desirable

  • Has obtained a Project Management qualification.
  • Registered clinician - Nurse/AHP


SKILLS/ABILITIES

Essential

  • Experience of project management: completing and taking action. Project Implementation Plans, Highlight Reports, Exception Reports, Risk Logs, and Closure Reports.
  • Capable of making complex decisions
  • Capable of working strategically.
  • Demonstrable experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of programmes
  • Good team worker with an ability to work autonomously.
  • A proven ability to manage data and information effectively within a service improvement environment
  • Good IT skills, Understanding of office including PowerPoint.
  • Work collaboratively with other service Leads across the sector
  • Articulate with advanced written and verbal communication skills


Desirable

  • Ability to adapt to changing needs of service.


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with and influencing senior management and clinicians/technical or other professional staff.
  • Experience of managing and monitoring financial resources and delivering projects within budget.
  • Experience of chairing meetings and facilitating discussions Able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the context of projects and applications on a larger backdrop
  • Experience of problem solving and supporting others to develop this skill
  • Self-directed: able to generate new idea's to develop and improve services.
