An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the GP Youth Project, an innovative and dynamic multidisciplinary child and adolescent wellbeing service in the South Pembrokeshire GP Cluster.

This Band 6 Primary Mental Health Specialist Practitioner post is now open to General, Paediatric and School nurses along with Mental Health Nurses and Allied Health Professionals to join us in preventing and intervening early with wellbeing and mental health needs and building resilience among children and young people in our area.

This 18-month fixed term post will involve providing psycho-social assessment and brief intervention, along with multi-agency working to prevent mental health needs escalating and enable children to get the best out of their lives.

Main duties of the job

This role requires a passion for promoting mental health and emotional wellbeing with children and families as well as General Practitioners. This will involve direct liaison with GPs to support timely assessment and intervention to build health and wellbeing capacity among surgeries and practices. The post holder will work alongside a youth worker and support worker to ensure a range of psychological and social support measures are implemented effectively. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly as part of a team to ensure excellent delivery of service provision, to ensure accessibility and continuity of service delivery. Excellent opportunities will be available for training and professional development and the post holder will receive managerial and clinical supervision. Although desirable, experience in S-CAMH services is not a requirement, and we would encourage interest from a range of candidates with relevant experience.
