The ward sister (or Operational Band 7/community team leader) has continuing responsibility for the delivery, assessment and evaluation of quality patient care within the speciality of Midwifery.
To provide leadership and vision in midwifery practice within the Directorate.
To be a leader in developing junior staff, and provide management support to the Directorate Management and Senior Leadership Team.
This post is rotational, and could be allocated to one of the following Delivery Suite, Obstetric Theatres, First Floor maternity (antenatal & postnatal ward), Obstetric Assessment Unit, Midwifery Led Unit, Antenatal Clinic or Community.
Main duties of the job
Our service needs a motivated and inspirational individual to lead our midwifery team.
Appreciating the diversity of our women and possessing a high level of clinical standards, you will seek to improve patient safety, provide excellent care and be open to innovation.
The expectation is that you will be already working at an advanced level, with a wide range of clinical skills and can support junior staff whilst ensuring quality care provision to women. You will be able to communicate with all staff groups, lead a team, have a strong ethos around delivering high standards of care and be willing to take part in the managerial and leadership activities at a Band 7 level.
This role is an ideal opportunity to those who are interested in developing your skills to the next level and will give you a wide range of transferable skills to further your career. You will be given targeted support and training to assist you in your journey.
