We are currently recruiting for an outstanding Head Occupational Therapist to join our team at Cygnet Hospital Wyke. Within this role you will provide leadership and management of the occupational therapy department, taking overall responsibility for the quality of service delivery, patient outcomes and being wholly responsible for service development.
You will hold a clinical caseload on Adarna ward, a 15 rehabilitation service for men with mental illness and a secondary diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. You will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to provide specialist assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction.
You will autonomously complete the occupational therapy process for a highly complex client group. You will lead the occupational therapy department, and be part of the senior management team. An integral part of this role will be supporting student education within the team.
This role includes opportunities for learning, development and research, supported by a robust appraisal and supervision structure based on RCOTs Career Development Framework.About us

Cygnet Hospital Wyke provides a comprehensive pathway of acute admissions services for men. Our team works closely and collaboratively with service users, their families and the referrer to provide a seamless pathway from referral to discharge
There are 3 wards within the hospital;
- Adarna Ward Rehabilitation Service for men with Mental Illness and Autism Spectrum Disorder 15 beds
- Bennu Ward Specialist PICU service for men 12 beds
- Phoenix Ward Acute service for men 19 beds
Each ward has a full time Occupational Therapist and two activity co-ordinators. Adarna ward is also supported by an Occupational Therapy Assistant. Our environment includes a gym, onsite vocational activities, ADL kitchens, a sensory room and other therapeutic spaces. Occupational Therapy Directorate
Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.
Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.
We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.
