We are excited to announce the following newly commissioned post based within the Enfield Advisory Service for Autism EASA

EASA supports autistic children and young people from 0 - 25 yrs. This is achieved by working with educational settings and parents to increase the understanding of autism and develop provision and practice across the borough of Enfield.

With the support of the local authority the EASA offer is expanding to incorporate a broader range of professional support .

In partnership with EASA, BEHMHT is looking to recruit the following staff:

0.5 Band 7 Highly Speech and Language Therapist

Main duties of the job

You will work alongside a team of teachers, parent support advisors, educational psychologists and Early years practitioners on identified projects and initiatives within the strands of the EASA delivery model:

Strand 1: Support for Families

Strand 2: Developing Autism Friendly Settings

Strand 3: Targeted support for Children/Young People

Strand 4: Statutory and Crisis Response

Person Specification EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS Essential
  • Recognised Speech & Language degree/qualification, equivalent to ensure the required level of professional, theoretical and clinical knowledge.
  • Health profession council licence to practice.
  • Registered member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists.
  • Highly specialist knowledge of Autism.
  • Evidence of postgraduate training / additional courses in the area of specialism.
  • Highly specialist knowledge of Autism and its impact on the 0-25 population.
  • Knowledge of a range of relevant assessments and ability to analyse and interpret results with reference to theoretical and clinical knowledge of Autism.
  • Able to carry out structured and detailed observations of verbal and non-verbal communication behaviours.
  • Highly developed ability to communicate clearly, directly and honestly in an open manner.
  • Speaker of an additional language.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in order to work collaboratively and liaise with a wide range of professions from a variety of agencies.
  • To be able to demonstrate empathy, support and reassurance to individuals who have a language/communication difficulties and with their carers and families.
