Have you ever thought about how visiting/ staying in an acute hospital setting can be someone with a learning disability or someone who is Neurodiverse?
A great opportunity has arisen within University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) for a Specialist Learning Disability, Neurodiversity and MCA Practitioner(Band 7) for 22.5hrs a weekto join the team for apermanent appointment. This role is part of a shared post and sits within the UHD safeguarding team.
The role will predominantly be based at Bournemouth Hospital, preferably Wednesday to Friday (but with some flexibility to meet the needs of the service) .
It is an opportunity to support UHD staff operationally and strategically to improve access and reduce health inequalities for those with a learning disability, autistic people and people who are neurodiverse. This is through training, data analysis, audit as well as networking and creating links to prioritise care through the patient journey and ensure reasonable adjustments are made to deliver high quality and equitable care for all.

The role requires NMC or AHP or Social Care worker Registration
Base Location: Royal Bournemouth and Poole Hospital

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work within our Safeguarding team as a visible and operational specialist practitioner, improving the quality of care and experience received by people (16 plus) who have a learning disability and/or neurodivergence.
Provide advice in the assessment of the needs of people in our care with regard to the Equality Act (2010), Mental Capacity Act (2005), safeguarding, best interest decisions and deprivation of liberties assessment (DOLS).
Ensure appropriate and timely reasonable adjustments are made to the care pathways for individuals who are identified as vulnerable adults/children and/or complex people with a learning disability or neurodivergence.
Act as an expert resource to others, providing information to junior staff, multidisciplinary team members, patients, relatives/ carers.
Develop effective and collaborative relationships with healthcare and multi-agency colleagues to promote that people who use our services.

- Relevant Master's Degree or working towards or equivalent demonstrable experience and knowledge
