The ED team at Royal Blackburn Hospital are looking to recruit a Band 7 Senior Sister / Charge Nurse.
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals that thrive in a fast paced environment and who aspire to deliver high quality care within a team of innovative professionals where every individual's contribution is valued.
Main duties of the job
Do you demonstrate strong leadership with previous extensive Accident andEmergency experience possessing expert clinical skills and knowledge?
Do you have the ability to organise and to use your initiative and be able to problem solve?

You will be the driver for providing high quality care to our patients, bringing innovative ideas for change in patient flow and ensuring Quality Care Indicators are met.
Our team is multi-disciplinary including Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Emergency Nurse Practitioners, Mental Health Liaison, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Medical Staff, a team of over 100 registered nurses and health care assistants.
Internal rotation onto night duty is a requirement of the post.
Support and opportunities will be given in developing your managerial skills.
You will have a suitable period of supernumerary in which you will be supported by a mentor.
About us
Our Emergency Department at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital provides care for both adults and children who attend with serious illness or injury. Due to our large catchment area, we currently provide for approximately 154,000 attendees per year.The department has an 8 bedded resuscitation and 43 major cubicles.
The department is classified as a trauma unit and we have a purpose built helipad onsite that will bring our most serious patients to the department via North West Air Ambulance.
We have a new, state of the art staff facility for staff changing with access to a shower as well as a new staff room, education room and wellbeing retreat for all staff.
We also have 2 Urgent Care Centres that are part of the emergency department and 2 Minor Injuries Units which are located at Accrington Victoria Hospital and Rossendale Health Centre.

Job responsibilities
1.1. Sets and monitors standards of quality nursing care over a 24 hour period..
1.2 Organises staff (according to competence) time and equipment for work completion.
1.3 Supervises the delivery of quality nursing care.
1.4 Praises and corrects team members as appropriate, and is involved in personal development of the workforce using KSF/performance review.
1.5 Reports on levels of nursing care quality to nurse management.
1.6 Co-ordinates the care given by nurses, medical staff and social workers, alongside any other professionals directly involved in patient care on the unit.
1.7 Handles complaints by patients, members of the public and staff, in accordance with Trust Policies.
1.8 Maintains discipline for the delivery of quality nursing care.
1.9 Responsible for the health, safety and welfare of the staff, patients and visitors under his/her control, as far as is reasonably practicable and in compliance with statutory duty, e.g., C.O.S.H.H. and Manual Handling of Loads. This responsibility to include provision of systems of work, place of work and work equipment that are safe and without risk to health.
