An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 8c consultant clinical neuropsychologist to join our team to lead the provision of psychological services for adults with acquired neurological disorders across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. Your caseload will include clients with ABI, Stroke and long term neurological conditions.
You will be based at Shropshire Rehabilitation Centre in Shrewsbury although you will also be required to work from other Shropshire Community Health Sites and in patients homes. You will be joining an enthusiastic and experienced multi-disciplinary team and will work alongside Occupational Therapists, physiotherapists and speech and language therapy colleagues.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will provide specialist neuropsychological and psychological assessments and treatment for clients with acquired neurological conditions across the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin area. Your interventions will be based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of highly complex psychological data from a variety of sources. You will be required to formulate, develop and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of clients' neuropsychological and/or mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the clients problems, by employing methods of proven efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
You will be required to undertake risk assessments and employ risk management strategies as appropriate.
The job requires an integrated MDT approach with an emphasis on collaborative working.
The post holder will be required to take substantial professional responsibility and exercise autonomous judgement in their professional practice as well as provide the MDT with a formulation led biopsychosocial framework.

Training and Qualifications
Essential
- Registered with the HCPC as a Clinical Psychologist or Practitioner Psychologist (with additional qualifications in Neuropsychology) and eligible for chartered status with the BPS.
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of Psychopathology, Clinical Psychometrics and Neuropsychology, two or more distinct Psychological therapies and lifespan developmental Psychology.
- Further post-graduate qualifications relevant to Neuropsychology
Experience
Essential
- Extensive experience of working as a qualified Clinical Psychologist in Neuropsychology with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across a range of care settings.
- Highly experienced at working in Community Neurorehabilitation or with patients that have neurological conditions and their families.
- Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for patients' Neuropsychological care and treatment.
- Extensive experience of teaching, training and / or clinical supervision.
- Formal training in supervision of other Neuropsychologists
Knowledge and Skills

- Ability to clearly articulate the role of the profession of Clinical Neuropsychology based upon a good understanding of the framework of government and national professional policy.
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
- Knowledge of legislation and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to the patient group and mental health
