Due to expansion of the Southlands Community Diagnostic Centre service we are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and experienced MRI Radiographers to join the current team which rotates between MRI units at Worthing Hospital and Southlands CDC. These posts come with the additional opportunity to rotate within the CT department and establish keen skills as a multi-disciplined cross-sectional radiographer.

In addition to rotating through a dynamic acute cross-sectional imaging department at Worthing Hospital, successful post holders will maintain a 7-day working service within a brand new, ergonomically designed CDC based at Southlands Hospital, Shoreham. Both sites are located on the West Sussex coastline and offer an ideal base to live within a region rich with outdoor activities, beautiful scenery and easy links to Brighton, London and Gatwick Airport.

We have a new Siemens Sola 1.5T MRI scanner at Southlands CDC, plus an established Siemens AvantoFit 1.5T MRI scanner at Worthing Hospital. All systems undertake all general MR Imaging, Neuro, MSK, abdominal and pelvic (inc. small part studies), paediatrics, vascular, breast and cardiac MR Imaging.

CT scanners include 2 x Canon Aquilion Prism 320 slice scanners and a Canon Prime SP. Again, the full range of imaging from all specialist modalities is covered on busy day lists, including cardiac, colonography and vascular studies.

Main duties of the job

Communicating with Consultants, colleagues and patients. Putting patients at ease with clear explanations of the procedure demonstrating a confident knowledge of the role.

Liaising with staff and colleagues from alternate departments and patient pathways to ensure patients are at the heart of all that we do. Putting patients needs first.

Undertaking all aspects of MRI and CT scanning of all body parts on the patients of West Sussex. This includes outpatient, inpatient and paediatric activity.

Cannulating patients and administering IV contrast agents in a safe and competent manner in line with department PGDs.

Supporting and mentoring the rotational junior staff and those new to MRI.

Participation in CPD and QSPE.

Sharing knowledge and skills.

Supporting the placements of student radiographers within the radiology department.

Whilst to essential requirement of this post is to ensure 7-day running of the CDC MRI service, on-call CT duties may be available on occasions when they don't impact on rostered schedules.
