The post holder will be an advocate for children and young people within AWP ensuring that safeguarding children remains a priority for staff delivering services.
They will support the AWP Head of Safeguarding in ensuring that AWP/CAMHs is compliant with national and local legislation, protocols and commissioned standards whilst supporting staff to safeguard children within their role.
To support and advise operational managers in all matters relating to the management of safeguarding children within their portfolios.
Supporting operational staff through the provision of robust specialist advice in line with relevant legislation and best practice guidance.
They will work proactively with partners in other statutory agencies to develop working relationships to improve safeguarding of children.

Work with the AWP Head of Safeguarding to identify training needs, plan and deliver evaluated programmes in safeguarding children in CAMHS and across AWP to ensure 'Think Family'.
The safeguarding lead will be an accessible and expert resource on safeguarding children support and develop the day to day practice of frontline staff in CAMHS and across AWP where service users have children embedding Think Family.
Work effectively with partner agencies across BSW and BNSSG, leading on developing and improving working relationships and representing where appropriate CAMHS in multi-agency forums.

Essential
- Registered Nurse with additional Specialist Community Public Health Nurse qualification.
- Postgraduate qualification in child protection or able to demonstrate ability to work at Masters Level.
- Completion of programme of leadership and change management or willingness to complete.
- Able to demonstrate competencies at Level 4 Safeguarding Children roles and competencies for health care staff (Intercollegiate Document 2019).
- Recognised Safeguarding Children Supervision course.
- Experience of managing and supervising a full range of health professionals and their case work.
- Experience of working in multi-agency arena on safeguarding children work.
- Evidence of continued professional development (revalidation).
- Knowledge/experience of CAMHS
