An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Staff Nurse to join the Access Lounge/Day Care Team at North Tees & Hartlepool Foundation Trust.
Day Case and Access Lounge consists of 3 units spread across both North Tees and elective hub at Hartlepool.
Opening hours are Monday - Friday 06.30-22.30, with various shift patterns to provide safe cover
A nurse led service working closely with surgeons and anesthetists, pre- assessment, theatres, in patient wards, x-ray, specialist nurses and physiotherapists. We support both student nurse and paramedic training, offering the opportunity to experience a wide range of surgical specialties within one placement.
Full training in day case surgery with be given to the successful candidates with support from highly experienced and multi skilled team and encourage development within the role.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated practitioner, who have a flexible and an adaptable approach to what can be a demanding service. The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills and be committed to delivering an excellent and continuously improving service for patients.
Experience as a Registered Nurse in a surgical speciality and knowledge of Day case working would be advantageous, however not essential as full training will be given.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the ability to direct their own workload in a busy and fast paced environment.

Job responsibilities
Responsible for the streamlined admission process of Inpatients, and the admission and post-operative care of Day case patients, in a timely and organised manner.
Provides advice and guidance for patients regarding surgery and health promotion.
Provides support and guidance for Clinical support Workers & students
Admit & prepare patients for theatre
Liaise with surgeons, anesthetists, GP and physicians
Instigate and check investigations as appropriate
Maintain accurate and confidential clinical and nursing documentation.
Safe post-operative care & discharge of Day case patients
