Band 6 Liaison and Diversion Mental Health Practitioner needed to cover Coventry and Warwickshire Justice Centres - To Cover Coventry & Warwickshire

You will work alongside key stakeholders such as the Police, Magistrates and the Probation services.

You will assess vulnerable people that come through the criminal justice system at the earliest time possible, so that they can be diverted where there are no public protection issues and liaise with other services who may be able to offer ongoing support.

You will work on the front-line where your professional skills and expertise will provide dynamic advice, guidance and decision making, so you can provide a person centered response to those in need and to support key stakeholders to make informed decisions

Is this you?

Experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse or social worker with a mental health background

Are able to demonstrate a commitment to high quality care and service provision, Have the ability to work flexibly and work as part of a multi-agency team?

Have the ability to assess and formulate risk plans?

Have enhanced communication and inter-personal skills?

And happy to be police vetted?

Then we would like to hear from you!

The service operates 7 days a week, on a rotational basis. There are three aspects to the service:

Custody Hours: 07:30 to 8pm 7 days a week

Court Hours: 08:30 to 4:30pm Monday to Friday

Outreach service: 08:30 to 4:30pm Monday to Friday

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Current Professional Registration - including Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker, or other allied health professional relevant to mental health (degree level)
Knowledge and skills Essential
  • An understanding of PACE, MAPPA,NICE Guidelines in relation to this area of practice
  • Ability to screen referrals and clarify when consultation is appropriate and/or onward to referral to specialist services is needed.
  • Excellent written communication skills
Experience Essential
  • Experience of working in mental health as a qualified professional
  • Experience of working autonomously and making decisions around patient care particularly around risk assessment/management
  • Ability to liaise effectively with statutory and voluntary services
  • Proven ability to work with other professional groups within and outside of NHS
Other Essential
  • Car owner / driver
