This is an exciting and rare opportunity to join our team. We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist with an interestin developing their clinical skills in the field of Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC).The Kent and Medway Communication and Assistive Technology (KM CAT) Service is one of the National Specialised AAC services,established in collaboration with Kent County Council and NHS England. The Service assesses and supports children and young peoplewho need to use Electronic Assistive Technology (EAT) or Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) for communication andlearning. We have strong relationships with families, schools and local Paediatric Therapy Services. We value and use these links tobenefit our own staff, as well as the children and families we serve.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will take a lead on Occupational Therapy needs, working with a multi-disciplinary team to assess and supportchildren and young people with complex needs, to access voice output communication aids (VOCAs), and other computer basedequipment. You will also have an important role in delivering training courses to professionals who support children and youngpeople with less complex needs. This role requires collaborative working with colleagues, to ensure best transdisciplinary working.As the successful applicant, you will be an experienced therapist with knowledge and experience of supporting children and youngpeople who use AAC and EAT for communication and learning. You will have a professional Occupational Therapy qualification, stateregistration with the HCPC and RCOT as well as evidence of maintaining and developing your skills through continuing professionaldevelopment. You will be passionate about meeting the needs of children and families.The post will be based at The Old Railway School in Ashford, but will involve working across Kent and Medway. This job providesexcellent opportunities for ongoing professional development working in a highly supportive team.
