The Deputy Digital Clinical Systems Manager is responsible for the support, improvement and ongoing development of all patient facing clinical systems including EPR within the Trust excluding diagnostic systems. The Trust Cerner EPR solution is the core clinical system for the Trust and the primary focus of this role is the optimisation and support of this system that is going live in October 2023. All other clinical systems including Trust wide systems such as EDM and Voice Recognition systems plus specialist departmental systems such as cancer and ophthalmology solutions form the wider portfolio of systems that are supported.
Main duties of the job
This role is expected to support and manage ITIL and ISO 20000:1 best practice support and development workflows to ensure that the Clinical Systems Team is a highly professional support and systems management team working in harmony with the Digital Service Desk and all other Digital teams.
This team reports into the Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO) who along with the CCIO manages our Digital Clinicians consisting of consultants, junior doctors, nurses, midwifes, AHPs and pharmacists. It is expected that your role will form a key link between the clinical design of the solution from our Digital Clinicians and the Clinical Systems team you manage. A clinical background is not required for this role but may be beneficial to understanding. The Digital Diagnostic systems are managed by our Digital Imaging team and a close working relationship is needed.

The key responsibilities for this role included:
Management of the Digital Clinical Systems Team. Management of best practice support processes for Incidents, Requests, Change and problems utilising the Digital Departments ServiceNow toolset. Implementing a continuous improvement methodology to the Trust clinical systems and implement best practice clinical and administrative workflows. Responsible for ensuring the EPR is always supported and runs effectively at all times. This includes liaising with required suppliers and 3rd parties and managing conflicting priorities and workloads. Support the embedding of Standard Work across the Trusts usage of EPR and clinical systems. Ensure that all support processes are documented and effectively managed. Ensure the team is managed with robust daily management and other elements of UHCWi Management system (training to be provided) Implementation and management of knowledge management for the support team and support the Digital Clinicians in developing end user knowledge management. Act as a senior member of the Digital Department representing the department at both internal and external meetings. Act as a senior member of the Digital Department support all areas of Digital meet the Trusts requirements. Deputise for the CNIO where appropriate on non-clinical areas. Responsible for the build and any changes to EPR workflows, forms, functionality and configuration items. Responsible for the configuration of all clinical systems managed by the team including electronic document management, Digital dictation\voice recognition, all aspects of EPR including the patient portal. Responsible for Business as Usual (BAU) support for all clinical systems in partnership with the other Digital Clinical Systems Manager who you will deputise for and who will also deputise for you. Support the handover of projects to BAU support ensuring all required documents, processes and training are undertaken by the required teams. Responsible for prioritisation of configuration changes and development work working closely with the Associate Director of Digital Programmes and the Head of Digital Programmes to ensure that the key aspects of the Digital Strategy are implemented. Responsible for ensuring consistency of design and build across all Clinical systems. Support the procurement of all clinical systems including creating specifications, scoring and determining requirements for the Trust. Work with the Digital Clinical Team to ensure adoption and embedding of standard work and best practice by staff across the Trust. Contribute to the Digital strategy and help determine the implementation plan. Development of business cases, reports and other papers as needed by the Trust. Support effective supplier management ensuring SLAs and contractual compliance is achieved in the best interest of the Trust. This is supported by senior management and the Digital Contract Management team. This role will require participation in an on call rota to support the Trusts Clinical Systems.
