Applied Psychologist/Psychological Therapist/Cognitive Analytical Therapist
An exciting opportunity has arisen to support with the development of the Self-Harm Clinic, a new arm of the Mental Health Liaison Team based at Queen Alexandra Hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic professional passionate about mental health and challenging stigma often experienced by our patients/ clients who attend the hospital. The Self-Harm Clinic is a brand-new concept, and the successful candidate(s) will be involved in the implementation and innovation of the service. The service is a hybrid model, we are able to recruit beyond Hampshire, as there is opportunity for remote working.

A little about the service: it is a pilot and initial funding has been secured for 12 months, however, the advertised posts are permanent positions. In the clinic we will see patients/ clients who have presented to the Emergency Department at Queen Alexandra Hospital following their first or second self-harming incident. As part of the Self-Harm clinic, they will be given rapid and early intervention of 5 sessions that will be Cognitive Analytical Therapy informed.

This post is ideal for a person who is passionate about therapy delivery, team working, and service development. You will work closely with the Lead Clinical Psychologist with delivering the therapy and shaping the service. We have strong links with the acute hospital trust, CMHT’s, IAPT services, crisis teams and the Mental Health Liaison Team.

The ideal candidate would be a professional who has existing training in the CAT model. Although we are committed to CPD and upskilling our workforce so there will be opportunities for further training and development. The intervention provided will be based in the CAT model. We would welcome applications from Applied Psychologists / CAT Therapist/ IAPT trained therapists / CBT and DBT trained therapists.

We would consider interviewing applicants who do not currently meet all essential criteria, provided they were willing to undertake further training to gain the competencies and accreditation that fulfils the role. In these circumstances, the role would be at band 6 until a development programme had been completed.

We welcome a conversation if this post is of interest, please call or email Dr Hasina Khatun (Lead Clinical Psychologist), Hasina.khatun@southernhealth.nhs.uk / 07425634714.

The NHS pay scales have not yet been updated for 2022. Confirmation issued on 19th July that they will be increased in line with the statement available on the NHS Employers and Government websites.
