We have vacancies for Band 6 Nurses who are already experienced and Chemotherapy competent. We are a nurse led service, providing chemotherapy, supportive therapies and apheresis to patients with Haemato-Oncology and Solid Cancer.
On our spacious Cancer Treatment Unit you will be able to rotate between the chemotherapy delivery area and supportive area.
You will receive excellent training and development, and the opportunity to progress within your profession. We actively encourage our nurses and allied health professionals to take part in research projects and to work towards Masters and PhDs, providing dedicated support.
Our nurses work a variety of day shifts and, the unit is primarily open Monday -Friday with smaller numbers of patients treated at the weekends. We are able to offer posts to both full time and part time staff.
Main duties of the job
To provide the highest standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualized, holistic patient care in conjunction with the inter-professional team.
As a proficient practitioner in SACT care, the post holder acts as a professional role model and clinical teacher. He / she will also provide effective mentorship and supervision, participating in the education and training of nursing and non-nursing staff.
He/she also takes charge of the Day Care Unit as required, liaising closely with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse with continuing responsibility. The post holder will be asked to perform the Clinic Nurse Role at times - coordinating all the prescriptions, blood tests and confirmations in advance, so that treatment production /dispensary occurs in a timely manner.
