Our children's community nursing team in Coventry are looking for an exceptional children's nurse to become our Nurse Team Manager. You will bring with you a passion for the delivery of outstanding community nursing services for our children and young people.

Our children's community nursing team are passionate about supporting children and young people to live their best lives at home, through the delivery of expert nursing care. Our Nurse Team Manager will provide operational management and professional and clinical leadership to staff across the service. Working collaboratively with fellow leads, you will ensure the services we provide are safe and of the highest quality.

If you are an enthusiastic, innovative and dedicated nurse with significant community experience working with children and young people with medically complex needs this could be the role for you. Our children and young people's needs can be extensive and varied, therefore experience working with medically complex children and within the field of children's palliative care, alongside an extensive portfolio of clinical skills will be required. Our Nurse Team Manager will provide credible leadership in clinical practice and deliver excellence in clinical care as required.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and will lead our service with compassion and integrity. You will demonstrate the ability to motivate, support and develop our team. Strong transformative skills and the ability to support a change process are essential. You will deliver close partnership working with colleagues across the trust, In all your activities you will role model the highest standards of professional and clinical practice.

The post holder will have experience and be able to demonstrate good working knowledge of clinical incident management, and the management of risk. You will have the knowledge and skills to manage staff and to lead the delivery of the clinical supervision strategy across the teams, supporting governance over all areas of clinical practice and support the management of any professional practice concerns.

Registered Childrens Nurse, RN (Child), who holds effective registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council

Childrens Nursing Degree or equivalent qualification/ evidenced experience.

Experience managing the nursing care of children with medically complex physical health needs across a broad range of settings.

Experience of Childrens Community Nursing caseload management.

Must be able to demonstrate staff management skills and good working knowledge of HR policies and procedures.

Have an extensive working knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection Procedures.

Must be able to demonstrate an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, across organisational and professional boundaries.

Have a strong understanding of national policy in relation to the health and care of children and young people, including NICE guidelines.

Must be able to demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate and present complex information to a variety of internal and external audiences.

Good analytical skills and ability to draw conclusions from combinations of qualitative and quantitative information sources and present in a concise manner.

Ability to develop and implement innovative solutions, to problem solve and respond to changing demands.Demonstrable ability to plan over the short and medium term and adjust plans and resource requirements accordingly.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Children's Nurse, RN (Child), who holds effective registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
  • Teaching Qualification (for example ENB 998 or mentoring and assessing) or evidence of equivalent experience teaching and mentoring staff.
  • Children's Nursing Degree or equivalent qualification/ evidenced experience.


Experience

Essential

  • Demonstratable recent experience working in Children's Community Nursing services.
  • Experience managing the nursing care of children with medically complex physical health needs across a broad range of settings.
  • Experience of managing staff
  • Experience of Children's Community Nursing caseload management.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering service improvements.

  • Car owner/driver, or suitable alternative transport to enable you to undertake the job - insured for business use. (It is unlikely that public transport will meet this requirement). If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act.
  • Must be able to contribute to a service provided across 24/7, including weekends and Bank holidays.
