An opportunity has arisen to work in a growing team of enthusiastic pharmacy and clinical staff to promote and support the BHT medicines optimisation programme.
We are striving to ensure medication usage at BHT is optimum for patients whilst working towards an exceptional and efficient service. This post gives the opportunity to develop your clinical experience whilst increasing your knowledge of the financial and commissioning elements of hospital pharmacy.
Main duties of the job
To assume overall responsibility for the effective and optimal use of drugs prescribed within Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust (BHT).
To support, promote and facilitate medicines optimisation ensuring best value, reduced harm and improved outcomes from the significant investment in medicines.
To work as part of the Trust's Medicines Optimisation Team to achieve the Trust's Medicines Optimisation strategy.
To lead on the implementation of NICE TAs and clinical commissioning policies.
To identify and facilitate the implementation of Trust approved QIPP and CQUIN programmes for medicines and to share schemes with other local providers to ensure consistency across the health economy.
To investigate and coordinate the response to commissioners' queries and challenges regarding HCD charges within specified timeframes.
To ensure correct commissioning arrangements are in place to optimise the use of homecare in relation to HCDs.
To propose and lead the implementation of initiatives designed to maximise the identification of recoverable Trust income for PbR Excluded and other recharged medicines.

Essential
- Master's degree in Pharmacy (MPharm)
- Registered Pharmacist: Member of GPhC
- Post-graduate certificate in clinically-based pharmacy or recognised equivalent
Desirable
- Demonstrate professional networking (e.g. member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society or UKCPA)
- Registered Independent Pharmacist Prescriber
Experience
Essential
- Significant experience of hospital pharmacy at Post Registration Pharmacist level
- Significant experience of delivery of pharmacy services to a broad range of specialties
- Evidence of significant relevant Continuing Professional Development
- Experience of project management
- Experience of managing staff
Desirable
- Experience of delivery of clinical pharmacy service to a specialist level
- Experience of conducting service audits and the use of performance indicators
- Experience of teaching and tutoring
