Family Interventions Lead Early Intervention in Psychosis.

We have an exciting opportunity for someone with a core profession (Nurse, SW, OT) and relevant Health Education England qualifications in Family Interventions for Psychosis. Or, someone with a Systemic Psychotherapy or Clinical Psychology qualification to join the Bradford District Care Foundation Trusts Early Intervention Psychosis service to lead on Family Interventions. The role holds an important and active role in shaping and supporting the work the service undertakes with service users and families.

Bradford EIP is a nationally recognised, high performing mental health service, specialising in the support and care of young people and adults with, or at risk of developing psychosis. The successful applicant will be joining a supportive, forward-thinking service with a rich history for delivering high quality care through a Bio-Psycho-Social-Spiritual approach.

The service works to a model of the whole MDT delivering Family Interventions. Our family offer ranges from psychoeducation, carer support, structured family interventions where this post will give focus and systemic psychotherapy.

The role involves a consultative and training role in supporting the team with their skills and confidence in working with families.You will work within a team approach and closely with the service Systemic Psychotherapist and carer development support worker.

Main duties of the job

The role involves day to day close working with our EIP teams, leading on discussions around family support and overseeing referrals for family interventions.

Individually and group supervision sessions around family work for staff with a varied and wide range of family intervention skills. Training/teaching of staff to supplement statutory training offered via HEE. Part of the role is to encourage and support staff with accessing and completing their family interventions training.

You will be supporting staff to offer interventions to all service users where appropriate, to record and document correctly and to work towards achieving excellent results in yearly national targets for early intervention teams.

There is an ongoing process of evaluating carer support and family interventions in the team and liaising with the team ana managers around and service development in relation to family interventions.

As well as supporting and supervising the team you will have your own caseload of families that you are working with in a therapeutic context.

We are looking for someone with:
  • A Health Education England qualification in Family Interventions for Psychosis or with a Systemic Therapy qualification interest in working with people with psychosis and their carers and/or family members
  • Good core clinical skills, including experience in EIP
  • An interest in team development and team reflective practice
  • An aptitude for working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • The ability to work creatively alongside colleagues to develop and deliver a service strategy for family interventions.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Formal qualification in Systemic Family Therapy or Clinical Psychology (including a substantial training component in systemic family therapy). AND Accreditation (or working towarclinical psds accreditation) with the relevant professional body, including through non-professional route. OR Professional qualification in mental health (nursing, social work, occupational therapy) AND HEE recognised qualification in family interventions for psychosis.


Desirable

  • Teaching (clinical practice) qualification/certificate or equivalent experience. Supervision qualification, in the relevant therapeutic modality.


Experience

Essential

  • At least 3 years' experience of working with adults with mental health problems, including psychosis and/or experience of Early Intervention in Psychosis. Experience of utilising the Care Program Approach & risk management. Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams. Application of evidenced based psychological therapies/interventions relevant to the clinical service.


Desirable

  • Involvement in innovative clinical practice. Experience of taking lead roles in clinical practice/service development. Experience delivering psychological therapies/interventions to groups of patients. Experience in applying specialist psychological therapies/interventions.
