The Clinical and Operational Lead Occupational Therapist will provide both clinical leadership and operational oversight for the therapy and recreational services within the unit. This role will involve supporting the occupational therapy team to provide person-centred care to service users with complex needs, using specialist occupational therapy skills to assess, plan, and deliver high-quality, evidence-based interventions. You will also lead on person-centred care planning and ensure the team's adherence to best practices, including quality and governance frameworks. In addition to clinical duties, you will have operational responsibilities such as budget management, recruitment, staff supervision, and service improvement initiatives.
Main duties of the job
o Provide clinical and operational leadership to the occupational therapy and recreational teams within the unit.o Lead the recruitment, supervision, and development of staff, ensuring high levels of professional competence across the team.o Manage operational aspects, including financial oversight, resource management, and the achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs).o Ensure all staff receive regular clinical and managerial supervision and annual appraisals.o Ensure effective management of sickness/ absence.o Chair clinical and non-clinical meetings as required, driving service improvements through data analysis and performance reporting.o Support and manage change initiatives, implementing evidence-based practices across services.o Support 'Improving Working Lives' initiatives.
o Collaborate with the OT team to support service users with complex mental health needs, using advanced clinical reasoning to deliver person-centred, outcome-focused care.o Lead clinical audit, research activities, and quality improvement initiatives to ensure that care is evidence-based.o Collaborate with the MDT to ensure integrated care pathways and support safe clinical practice.o Provide clinical supervision, mentoring, and leadership for junior occupational therapists and therapy staff.o Promote and implement therapeutic working days, wellness and recovery plans, and the use of assistive technology to enhance care delivery.

Foster a learning environment by ensuring continuous professional development opportunities for staff, promoting reflective practice, and addressing any concerns or complaints efficiently.
Patient and Stakeholder Engagement: Promote patient-centred care by actively involving service users and carers in care planning and service development. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including commissioners, community partners, and volunteers, to enhance service delivery. Ensure patient safety and wellbeing through the effective use of risk assessments and personalised care plans.
