An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Intelligence Analyst to join the Medicine Board team at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, one of the UK's leading hospitals, where you will play an integral part in answering these questions and many more.

We are looking for an analyst who is passionate about transforming and improving the lives and care of patients, through supporting clinicians and managers across the clinical board in data analytics. We are looking for a highly motivated, inquisitive and intellectual individual who will relish a challenge. The successful candidate will also have excellent communication skills and be able to work on their own and as part of a team.

Main duties of the job

You will be able to demonstrate skills in quantitative analysis, data exploration, management, and modelling. A willingness to engage with clinical and managerial staff to understand how best to provide data to meet their, often ambiguous, requirements, is essential. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate :

o Proven experience of producing and interpreting analytical datasets - including manipulating data sets, analysing data, presenting findings in appropriate formats and making recommendationso Data visualisation and reporting (e.g. Power BI, Python, R)o Programming in relational databases ( eg. SQL)

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent


Desirable

  • Holds a relevant Masters' degree level qualification or equivalent experience.


Experience

Essential

  • Experience in an information analysis role


Desirable

  • Experience in an NHS informatics role or other healthcare information environment
  • Experience of working with relational databases
  • Experience of using query tool functionality
  • Experience of using Power BI
  • Experience of using Epic, including its BI stack, including developing Radar, Slicer Diver, Reporting Workbench contents
  • Membership of a relevant professional organisation (AphA, BCS, DAMA etc.)


Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Knowledge of information analysis and the use of information in support of business objectives
  • Ability to interrogate databases
  • Ability to interpret data
  • Ability to convert data to management information
  • Ability to independently interpret the requirements of information users and present reports that can be understood by a wide audience.
  • Understanding of data quality issues and how these relate to the organisation as a whole
  • SQL (or equivalent) skills
  • Use of MS Excel


Desirable

  • Use of Power BI
  • Understanding of income algorithms and financial planning in the NHS
  • Understanding of the use of clinical terms and codes within the NHS
