CT has a crucial role in the provision of primary diagnoses and follow-up in stroke, cancer and long term disabling conditions. The patients range from fit and mobile outpatients to the terminally ill and profoundly immobile and unwell in-patients, some of whom carry infectious diseases.
Invasive procedures such as CT guided biopsies, treatments such as CT guided drainages and sedation and general anaesthesia procedures are also carried out in the department.
The main service is currently delivered 8.45am to 5pm Monday to Friday. There will also be a commitment to the on-call service in A& E imaging, where you would be expected to cover CT, plain x-ray and interventional radiology. Extra ad hoc evening and weekend lists are offered in CT, and participation in covering these would also be encouraged.
