An exciting opportunity has arisen for Registered Nurses to work within the day case Oncology/Haematology Chemotherapy Unit, Ingham Suite & Emerald Suite ULHT. Both units are open Monday to Friday with flexible hours available.

You will primarily be working on Ingham Suite Lincoln, but will occasionally be required to work on the Emerald Suite Grantham

Ingham suite has 18 chairs and delivers approximately 160 chemotherapy treatments per week.

Main duties of the job

This position offers the applicant an opportunity to develop clinical and managerial skills relating to Systemic anti-cancer treatment (SACT) and central lines. You will be supported whilst you are completing your SACT pack by all members of the team whilst learning about the various types of anticancer treatments delivered on the unit. The ideal candidate will be a 1st level registered nurse, with the ability to undertake extended skills such as venepuncture, cannulation ,IV administration, care of central lines and chemotherapy administration are desirable

You must be proactive and able to demonstrate clinical effective practice and be able to priorities and organize workload. You must be willing to work as part of a team and be able to deliver a high standard of nursing care in a demanding environment.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current first level Registered Nurse with NMC


Desirable

  • Evidence of further education e.g. ENB 237, degree
  • Teaching/mentorship certificate


Experience

Essential

  • Experience working as a registered nurse in a clinical setting
  • Committed to ongoing personal development


Desirable

  • Recent experience as a registered nurse in haematology and/or oncology


Skills

Essential

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Able to demonstrate good leadership skills
  • Extended competencies in IV administration
  • Ability to evidence/demonstrate key values and behaviours in line with the Trust framework


Desirable

  • Evidence of extended roles
  • Experience of managing central venous access devices
  • Ability to administer chemotherapy
