This is a new post across CAMHS and Adult Mental Health. A central element to this role is the effectively management of the transition for young people into adult services where this is deemed necessary and to work flexibly to promote seamless transitions.it involves working with young people who present with complex mental health problems and moderate to high risk.

Career and development pathwaysWe have regular departmental teaching sessions across all CAMHS and adult Mental Health about specific clinical presentations. There are various opportunities to develop wider experience and work in different teams.

Main duties of the job

  • To participate as a multi-disciplinary team member in the assessment, care planning and treatment of young people and young adults aged between 17 and 25 who have been referred to CAMHS or to the Adult Mental Health Assessment and Liaison Service and or Southwark Treatment Teams.
  • Ensure that excellent recording and reporting of client contact
  • Work with the teams and clients to maintain a safe therapeutic environment. Work to assure the quality of care through achieving high operational standards in clinical systems
  • To maintain and ensure good professional standards and attitudes towards the care and treatment of children, young people and their families

    Risk assessment and multi team and multi agency working.

    Person Specification Qualifications Essential
    • First level nursing qualification/registration RMN or RSCN or HV or Doctorate level qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology or First level qualification in OT, social work, or equivalent or First level qualification in art, drama or music therapy with related experience in the psychological aspects of caring for children and adolescent with mental health problems/needs, developmental/ learning disability problems, and adult Mental Health
    • All applicants will require a professional training and relevant Clinical experience including CAMHS and or Adult Mental Health ( or clear evidence of transferable skills) in combination with professional registration with one of the following statutory bodies: the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) , Health Professional's Council (HPC/ HCPC), Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP), social work England or The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)
    Experience Essential
    • Experience of working in a CAMHS multidisciplinary team and or Adult Mental Health including experience of working across teams
    • Working knowledge of MHA, MCA and safeguarding children legislation.
    • Prompt and accurate recording on to electronic notes system and an understanding of the need for this
    Desirable
    • Experience of working with Adolescents and with young adults.
    Skills and knowledge Essential
    • Risk assessment and treatment skills
    • Good verbal communication, written and report writing skills
    • Knowledge and understanding of issues relating to information sharing and confidentiality
    • Understanding of and ability to maintain a safe therapeutic environment
    • Ability to work in partnership with service users and carers in the planning and delivery of care
    • Ability to provide care that is sensitive to the needs of minority ethnic groups
    Desirable
    • Familiarity with therapeutic modalities such as systemic work, DBT, CBT
