This is a compelling opportunity for an experienced nurse with a passion for lung cancer care. The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Extensive Experience: Demonstrated expertise in lung cancer nursing, particularly at Band 6 or above, ensuring high-level clinical knowledge and the ability to manage complex cases.
  • Patient Support: A deep commitment to patient care, offering valuable support to those undergoing lung cancer treatment, while providing emotional and clinical guidance.
  • Leadership: The ability to act as a role model for staff outside the expert team, using excellent interpersonal skills to lead, mentor, and motivate others.
  • Administrative Skills: Proficiency in maintaining patient records and databases, with a thorough understanding of the current lung cancer pathways, ensuring the smooth operation of the service.
  • Commitment: A driven, visionary, and initiative-taking individual, capable of meeting the demands of a dynamic service. This permanent role requires working five days a week (Monday to Friday) to ensure comprehensive service delivery.

This role is ideal for a dedicated nurse looking to make a significant impact in lung cancer care.

This post is a permanent post and to ensure that the requirements of the service are met, the post holder will be expected to work over 5 days (Monday to Friday)

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to work collaboratively with patients and professional staff delivering high quality care in both the hospital and community settings.

You will be expected to visit patients in the acute setting to undertake a holistic review of their needs and where appropriate suggest amended plans of care

You will undertake supportive home visits for patients where indicated

In addition to being a qualified nurse, the successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate excellent computer/ IT skills to include Microsoft Office Package, and be enthusiastic about the field of smoking cessation and health promotion

Experience in clinical audit and data collection is desirable. You must be able to communicate effectively at all levels, have an understanding of managing your own caseload, demonstrate effective teamwork and participate in ongoing audit programmes.

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as a Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC Pin within the next 2-3 months. Please note an NMC PRN Pin is not a full NMC Pin and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.

The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receivea full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely.
