We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated dietitians to join our supportive, team, to provide a dietetic service to learning disability and mental health services.

You will join a team of dietitians providing specialist services for community learning disabilities, mental health in-patients and mental health community outreach within Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust (BDCFT).

Employed by Bradford Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (BTHFT) and working fully embedded within BDCFT you will have access to the support and expertise of fantastic teams across two organisations.

Main duties of the job

We are a department who encourage and embrace opportunity to develop, to learn and progress. If you are a newly qualified dietitian or new to learning disabilities and mental health, you will join us as a band 5 and your initial 12-18 months will include a detailed professional development programme to develop skills, knowledge and competencies in learning disabilities and mental health to enable you to progress to band 6.

We also welcome applications from dietitians experienced in weight management, learning disabilities and/or mental health to be considered for the post at band 6 specialist level on appointment.

Our Department

All newly qualified dietitians are encouraged and supported to participate in the Trust's Preceptorship programme.

We are supported by an excellent clerical team with good IT and library facilities.

Bradford has a diverse, multicultural population with a wide range of socioeconomic groups, and a diversity of needs.

You will be working with inpatients and outpatients at Lynfield Mount Hospital, St Lukes Hospital and may also have the opportunity to work across a range of other dietetic services or community locations.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will participate fully in the training of B and C Placement student dietitians.

Applicants must be HCPC registered dietitians or due to obtain registration.

The postholder is required to travel regularly between work sites across Bradford and Airedale.

Bradford has a wide range of entertainment and leisure activities available locally. There are good road and rail networks to Leeds and the M62 corridor, and easy access to the Yorkshire Dales and the South Pennines.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics
  • Registered Dietitian with HCPC


Experience

Essential

  • Recent relevant dietetic clinical experience.
  • Comprehensive relevant undergraduate clinical experience.
  • Experience of audit and evaluation of work


Desirable

  • Post registration dietetic experience working in hospital or community setting
  • Teaching and training experience


Skills

Essential

  • Excellent written skills
  • Good organisation skills
  • Ability to travel and carry equipment between work sites
  • Computer literate


Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
  • Competent in Core Areas of Dietetic Practice.
