The Forensic Adolescent Consultation and Treatment Service (FACTS) is a national Tier-4 service that provides specialist assessment and consultation for children (aged 10-17) deemed high risk to others, presenting with significant complexity.
Working alongside multi-disciplinary colleagues, the successful candidate will provide psychological formulation, assessment and consultation to the multi-agency system. There are two streams to the service - FACS for CAMHS and FACS for Youth Justice. This role will provide input to children referred by CAMHS. You will be responsible for leading FACS for CAMHS involvement for a small caseload of children with support and input from other members of the Multi-disciplinary team.
You will join a team of four other supportive qualified Psychologists in the FACS Team. The successful candidate will be a member of CTM Psychology which has psychologists and therapists working across a range of different areas.

Main duties of the job

Direct clinical work
- Offering psychological opinion and direct assessment to aid the multi-agency system's understanding of risk, risk management and associated needs of the the child.
- Joint working with Nursing, Psychiatry, Family Therapy, and Social Workers all of whom work within FACS for CAMHS.
Indirect clinical work
- Working collaboratively with services within the child's system and an opportunity to develop consultancy skills with support from an MDT
- Provision of teaching and training to CAMHS services
- Opportunity to engage in audit and research and other CPD activities
- Supporting service development and improvement projects
- Opportunity to develop skills and gain experience in structured risk assessment. You will be supported to gain required training to enable you to fulfill your role as relevant.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential
- Honours Degree in Psychology. Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, or Postgraduate Doctorate in Forensic Psychology.
- Relevant additional specialist training or supervised practice in a therapeutic approach
- Relevant additional specialist training or knowledge and experience in a child setting.
- Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC) registration as a practitioner psychologist.
Desirable
- Clinical supervisor training for doctoral clinical psychology trainees.
- Additional training in attachment related interventions with children and/or young people.
- Relevant experience working in a forensic setting.
Experience
Essential
- Experience working as a qualified applied psychologist in an area relevant to this post.
- Evidence of competent and autonomous clinical practice, effective multi-disciplinary working, and involvement in safeguarding and multi-agency risk management approaches.
Desirable
- Experience of working within CAMH service for clients with complex needs, in justice systems.
- Experience of offering a specialist CAMHS consultation service.
- Experience of forensic risk assessment and use of structured professional judgement tools.
