The post is for a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist to join the Whole Family Service (WFS) as a member of staff of the Whole Family Team with Perinatal Specialism (WFT-P).The WFT-P is a highly specialist service offering psychological and psychotherapy to families during pregnancy and with babies, toddlers and children up to the age of 5 years. The team is set up to work with families who might fall through the gaps in other services and/or have a complex relationship to help. The post will involve working in a flexible outreach and applied way in order to best meet the needs of the families referred to the team. The WFT-P is co-located within Camden Children Centre Services and is designed to work closely with other early years professionals including, Family Support, Social Work and Health Visiting. In addition to offering direct work the role will involve offering consultation and support to partnership agencies.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Eligibility for full membership of the ACP (Association of Child Psychotherapists). Doctorate level qualification or equivalent in Psychanalytic Psychotherapy or Psychoanalysis.
  • Qualification in supervision
Previous Experience Essential
  • Substantial clinical experience as a qualified Child Psychotherapist with difficult, disturbed or challenging children, and families requiring skilled and complex interventions.
  • Substantial experience of conducting initial assessments, brief treatment, child psychotherapy assessment and treatment in a CAMHS setting.
  • Experience of providing parent-infant psychotherapy
Skills & Knowledge Essential
  • The aAbility to work effectively, collaboratively and supportively as a member of a multi-disciplinary/multi-agency team Significant organisational skillsbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with families, carers and analytic and non-analytic professional colleagues within and outside the NHS.
  • An awareness of current issues in service delivery within CAMHS and other settings and an ability to contribute to service development. An awareness of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice.
Other Requirements Essential
  • Evidence of personal resilience and aptitude for dealing with potentially distressing and emotional clinical work. Ability to be a constructive, collaborative and flexible team worker with an ability to work in different roles and contexts.
  • Ability to recognise own and others' work related stress and pressures and take appropriate action. Committed to personal development. The ability to form good working relationships and undertake joint work with others in a multi-disciplinary setting.
