The Luton and Dunstable Ophthalmology department have a vacancy for a trained Ophthalmic nurse to join our friendly multidisciplinary team in Ophthalmology. The Ophthalmology department is looking for a highly motivated nurse who wishes to contribute in providing high quality ophthalmic care to our patients. We are looking for a dedicated ophthalmic nurse who can make a difference with their dedication, expertise and aspiring leadership skills.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse you will be required to undertake a combination of clinical and management roles within the Ophthalmology Department. The role involves teamwork and the ability to communicate and work within a large multidisciplinary team. You will be need to be able to assess , plan and implement and monitor the provision of high quality ophthalmic care within the department .

The role requires co-ordinating the day-to-day management of the clinical areas, delegates duties and care appropriately whilst maintaining overall responsibility. To support the Senior Nurse to undertake annual appraisals for staff .Also Monitoring sickness absence levels, to undertake return to work interviews. To be actively involved in promoting good communication channels across the multi-disciplinary team.
Clinical responsibilities will be to undertake extended Ophthalmic Nursing Practice within the Ophthalmology Department. Due to the specialist ophthalmic nurse role it is expected that you will maintain and extend your clinical skills by undertaking additional training which maybe identified .
