An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Staff Nurse to join our nursing team within the surgical unit on Ward 1 on either a full or part time basis. Our Surgical ward specialises in caring for both male and female adult patients undergoing emergency surgery and those admitted with acute surgical conditions including:
  • General Surgery
  • Gynaecology
  • Minor orthopaedic conditions

Our nursing teams are focussed on the six C's, and we aim to provide a high quality service in a safe environment where the needs of each patient are cared for in a professional and holistic manner.

The successful applicant will possess excellent communication skills, team working skills and some knowledge of surgical procedures to join our busy units. We will support your development in the post through personal development planning, excellent training opportunities and will support you to broaden your experience, skills and knowledge in the rotation into the surgical ward areas.

We offer flexible working patterns on a roster basis which includes a well-balanced combination of days, nights and weekends in order to meet the needs of our patients and provide a fair and equal working environment for the whole team.

This post is Permanent

Hours per week: 37.5 (part time hours would also be considered)

Shift pattern: shifts will be either early (7:00-15:00), late (13:00-20:00), long day (7:00-20:00) or night shifts (19:30-7:30)

Main duties of the job

The role of a Staff Nurse is to support in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of high quality nursing care. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the staff nurse will ensure patients receive the highest level of care, delivered using a holistic, patient-focused approach, while ensuring high standards of documentation are maintained.

  • Current first level registration in General / Adult Nursing

  • Experience in area of specialism
