Exciting opportunity for a full-time substantive role in Urgent Care as Governance Manager across Emergency Department and Acute Medicine. This post offers an excellent opportunity for a decisive and dynamic individual with governance and patient safety experience to expand their knowledge and skills across urgent care services. The role will cover Adults Emergency Department and Acute Medicine based at the Bristol Royal Infirmary.

We are looking to recruit an inspirational and enthusiastic healthcare professional, who has the drive to embrace and enhance our Quality Improvement, Patient Safety and Governance programmes. Working with senior medical and nursing leads within the triumvirate model as well as partner organisations, your principal responsibilities will be to ensure safe and high-quality services are delivered in our governance framework. Main duties of the job

Reporting to and working closely alongside the leadership teams across Urgent Care, this is a lead role in managing Governance as well as supporting the development of quality initiatives/priorities. Including Datix Management, Informal and Formal Complaints, Departmental Risk Register, Audits, and CQC/Accreditation compliance.

You will also deputise for Urgent care management team in their absence and in times of operational pressure.

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • Evidence of further professional development


Desirable

  • Professional registration in patient safety/risk management


Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of patient safety/risk management, and/or quality management systems or relevant equivalent experience
  • Experience of working in multi-professional teams and/or organisations
  • Experience of working on own initiative, with evidence of being flexible and innovative


Desirable

  • Certified in Root Cause Analysis investigating


Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Awareness of patient safety issues within an acute care/ tertiary setting
  • Awareness of Clinical Governance and External Accreditation Processes
  • Excellent and proven presentation and teaching skills
  • Excellent and proven oral and written communication and report writing skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience of managing incident reporting systems
  • Ability to influence discussion & communicate effectively with a wide range of people
  • Able to confidently use Microsoft packages - including development and design of bespoke reports
