The post holder will be part of the Kent and Medway Single Point of Access (SPA) for young people. The service manages all referrals for young people in Kent and Medway with emotional wellbeing, mental health and neurodevelopmental concerns. Providing clinical leadership, support and guidance to team members and Trust staff and ensuring a client focused service.

The post includes providing clinical leadership and practicing at an advanced level demonstrating a high level of autonomy and clinical decision making, working as a highly specialised member of the SPA. The role is a collaborative one, working with individuals and groups across professional and organisational boundaries.

The post-holder will be a post-graduate qualified practitioner fully registered with the appropriate professional or regulatory body (e.g., HCPC, NMC). and should have clinical experience in the screening and assessment of children and young peoples mental health difficulties.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work in close collaboration with the SPA manager and develop positive working relationships with senior staff across the Kent and Medway CAMHS teams
  • To be responsible for the day to day organising, prioritising, and allocating of workloads in line with Key Performance Indicators
  • To have oversite of the demands of the SPA, including referrals for mental health, referrals for Neurodevelopment, and the 111 mental health crisis line.
  • To work in close collaboration with the service managers advising of current demands, work allocation, challenges, and solutions
  • To promote the development of an effective team and the development of productive working relationships throughout the Trust
  • To advise, encourage and share knowledge utilising the latest research and practice development, through literature and peer reviews.
  • To provide patients and relatives with information and education thus ensuring they have meaningful choices that promote dignity, independence, and quality of life

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • To monitor incoming referrals and triage/screening activity
  • Prioritise and delegate tasks to clinicians and administrators to promote the efficient timely responses to referred clients
  • Monitor clinical activity in relation to the service Key Performance Indicators and act as required to achieve the required outcomes
  • To be a point of contact for all SPA staff and Trust colleagues
  • Promptly attend to informal and formal enquires or complaints relating to SPA. Resolve issues promptly and increase service user satisfaction
  • Make the care and safety of young people and their family your first concern and act to protect them from risk
  • Be honest and act with integrity
  • To always monitor and maintain professional standards and Trust policy in relation to Risk Management, Health and Safety, Confidentiality and Data Protection

  • Probationary Period This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

    Starting with NELFT - NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex
