We are looking for an experienced clinical psychologist who wants to make a difference in the lives of others. An exciting opportunity has arisen for us to recruit to a Consultant Clinical Psychologist Acute Service Lead role within the Mid & North Division of Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, based in Parklands Hospital, Basingstoke. We are seeking candidates with skills in working with acute and chronic mental health difficulties and experience of service and staff development.

The successful candidate will be experienced in working with people with complex mental health needs, where psychosis and severe interpersonal difficulties are part of their presentation and be familiar with working through a trauma informed lens to understand what has happened to in the life of the individual and to use evidence based interventions to alleviate distress. It will be a distinct advantage for candidates to have previously worked with people in crisis & experiencing acute mental health presentations and the systems people come into contact with.

Working alongside colleagues, the post-holder will offer specialist psychological assessments, neuro-cognitive assessments, formulations, brief interventions and will be familiar with and contribute to further developing the Care Comprehend, Cope & Connect (CCC) Programme, which is a psychology led intervention enabling multi-professional colleagues to offer psychological interventions to individuals who are in crisis or in the acute phase of their mental illness. These interventions will lead to informed collaborative care planning.

The successful post-holder will lead in developing, organising and delivering psychological expertise across the Acute Services which include our In-Patient wards, (comprising of separate male and female wards and an intensive care ward and the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team, (CRHT). You will be supported by a team of psychologists and psychological therapists and very engaged multi-professional teams in all the acute services.

The successful candidate will be part of the wider senior management team and lead on service and strategic development, developing the psychological milieu in addition to providing line management, supervision, consultation and training to staff within psychology team and the wider multi-professional team.

We are looking for someone who has well developed interpersonal, clinical, quality improvement and research skills, with the resilience needed to thrive in a busy city-based NHS service.

The post-holder will be based at Parklands House and line and professionally managed by the Divisional Lead for Psychological Therapy Services.

You will also be part of the wider Psychological Service, comprising of clinical psychologists and specialists in psychological therapy with expertise in CBT, DBT, CAT and EMDR with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and research.

We have good supervision structures and an excellent track record of CPD, as well as strong links with Bath University and Southampton University, particularly with the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology and the MSc/Diploma in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Severe and Enduring Mental Health Problems.
