As part of exciting new developments in psychological services for children & young people in CTMUHB, we are seeking an experienced Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to lead our psychology and psychological therapies team working in community mental health services.
Our vision is to provide excellent psychological care both in specialist psychological approaches and in supporting our multidisciplinary teams to provide psychologically informed care. You will bring extensive expertise in the psychological care of children and young people and their families, delivering services with multi-disciplinary and multi-agency partners and leading Psychologists and Psychological Therapists. Main duties of the job
To grow and strengthen the Psychology Department in CTMUHB.
Improving access to psychologically informed care across the life span.
To lead on developing the provision of psychological services to children and young people within CTMUHB Children and Young People's Community Mental Health Services.
To provide leadership to support progression of services, direct supervision and working with multidisciplinary and multiagency stakeholders to identify service priorities and deliver excellent clinical care to children and young people.
Tol act as a senior clinician, and be a member of the CTMUHB Children and Young People's Community Mental Health Services leadership team.
To contribute specialist expertise in psychological services and practice to multidisciplinary and multiagency services.
To be responsible for the recruitment of staff, providing and/or ensuring appropriate line management and supervision (professional and clinical) is in place.
To provide consultation to other professionals, training, and multi-disciplinary work in relation to staff support.
The post holder will actively engage in service development. The role will also include planning and initiating service developments within the service and considering different ways of working to maximise the scope of psychology/psychological therapies provision for children, young people and families in the community.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge
Essential
- Registration with HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical or Counselling)
- Significant postgraduate training, qualification or experience in specialist psychological approaches in specific therapeutic modalities (such as EMDR, DDP, CBT, Systemic Family Therapy) or with particular clinical populations (such as care experienced young people, young people involved in offending, children with disabilities.
- Strong knowledge of child development, systems, and the impacts of developmental and specific trauma upon children, young people, families and systems.
- Formal training in the supervision of other psychologists.
- Awareness and knowledge of issues of difference and inclusion and how these may impact on the health care of children and families.
- Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with children, young people and families who may be highly distressed.
- Highly developed ability to communicate with children, families, other professionals and managers about highly complex, sensitive and sometimes contentious issues relating to patient care.
- Expert and up to date knowledge of national policy and legislation in relation to children and families as relevant to this post.
