We have a unique opportunity for a Band 6 Anaesthetic practitioner role available in our Liver/ hepatology theatre at Birmingham children's hospital.

The successful applicant will need to be an effective team player and communicator, to be able to efficiently manage this diverse team. You will be the key link of communication between the Consultant Surgeons/ anaesthetist and the theatre team and will need to be forward thinking to overcome any problems you may face daily.

Theatres have a strong commitment to teaching and education and you will be required to hold a recognised mentorship qualification, and to actively participate in the training of new learners and students. We can offer you an excellent mentorship and development programme, plus access to ongoing professional education. Practitioners with adult theatre experience will have an excellent opportunity to learn paediatric skills.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work in the BC clinical theatre areas to assure high standards of clinical care by providing direction, advice and intervention.

The post holder will contribute to the achievement of clinical group and corporate objectives and the required local and national quality and governance standards by ensuring that all required audits, assessments and reviews are completed within the agreed timeframes that action plans are regularly monitored and integrated into clinical practice within the designated area of responsibility.

The post holder will assist in the development of theatre practitioners and Theatre Support Staff, which will be directly employed by the service and/or on rotation.

The post holder will be accountable for ensuring the quality of the patient and family experience during their Peri-operative journey, through evidence-based nursing/theatre practice, including collaboration with the Multi-disciplinary Team.

The post holder will demonstrate expert clinical knowledge and skills. It is expected that they will work in theatre attire in the clinical environment whilst undertaking their specialist role- demonstrating specialist skills which will support others in the area to learn and teach safely and effectively.
