We are seeking a committed and value-driven individual to take on a leadership role on a 12-month fixed term basis. Applicants should be enthusiastic, aspiring leaders with a good track record of operational management, people leadership and change management. You must be able to demonstrate achievement of targets, implementation of service developments and transformation initiatives.
With the General Manager, the postholder will provide operational leadership, strategic direction, financial control and corporate management to staff across the pathology services on all sites. The post holder will also work alongside the Clinical Director of Pathology, as well the Care Group Managing Director for Diagnostics, Cancer and Buckland (DCB) and other managers within both Pathology, the Care Group and the Trust.
Main duties of the job
These are exciting, but equally challenging times and our continued vision is to deliver a clinically led, cost-effective and safe service, committed to value in everything it does. This aligns closely with the need to develop system-wide sustainability and transformation plans to achieve greater efficiency and productivity opportunities.
You will need excellent organisational skills, the ability to multi-task and manage your time effectively, the ability to develop excellent working relationships at every level and very strong communication and leadership skills. The Deputy General Manager role can be challenging and requires someone with a high level of attention to detail. You must be able to establish credibility with a wide range of people, possess excellent negotiation skills together with the vision and drive to deliver excellence for our services and patients. The role also gives the opportunity for a large amount of external working within the Kent and Medway Pathology Network, allowing the post holder to collaborate with colleagues both internal and external to the Trust.
About us
We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people. Our vision is 'great healthcare from great people'. Everything we do is guided by our values: 'People feel cared for, safe, respected and confident that we are making a difference'. We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called 'We care'. It's about empowering frontline staff to lead improvements day-to-day. We're looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families and carers we care for every day.
Please note that if you require a Certificate of Sponsorship to work in the UK you must declare this on your application form, even if you currently have a certificate of sponsorship or a work permit for another role and are already working in the country. Please note we are only able to sponsor candidates on a Skilled Worker Visa applying for roles Band 5 and above.
Applications for this role should be written by the applicant. If artificial intelligence (AI) programmes are used then the application may be rejected due to this document being an important part of the assessment process. This does not prevent applicants seeking appropriate support with applications should they need to for the purposes of any declared disability.
