Job Overview:
We are looking to recruit a dynamic, efficient and reliable person to our Information Governance team into the role of Corporate IG Officer- Band 5 to implement and actively monitor the Information Governance assurance program and manage the corporate record and Freedom of Information compliance across the Trust.
The successful candidate must have good interpersonal communication and customer service skills and a can do attitude. The post holder must have knowledge, working experience b and professional qualification ( or equivalent experience) of relevant legislation around requirements to requests made under the Freedom of Information Act, confidential patient information and access to health records, track record in successful written and verbal communication with a variety of people, including service users, their representatives, clinicians, service managers and staff from other agencies. It is essential to have proficient computing skills, especially using Microsoft Office applications.

The post holder will be responsiblefor coordinating and processing Freedom of Information Act (2000) requests ensuring that they are managed and responded to in a professional manner and in line with all legal requirements. Review and monitor Freedom of Information (and Environmental Information Regulations) requests and responses and set up, maintain and monitoring them to ensure the delivery of all requests.
The post holder will provide specialist support, advice, clarification and assistance to staff within the Trust in relation to FOI and Data Protection in line with the Acts. Also undertaking and reporting on compliance reports, providing Corporate records management advice and administrative support to the Freedom of Information Committee meetings, as well as other duties outlined in the job description.

The post holder will be based at the Maudsley Hospital site in a team of 10 people which is subject to change (if required) in line with the exigencies of the service. The role requires agile working across all Trust sites according and aligned to service needs.

This job description is an outline of the key tasks and responsibilities of the post and the post holder may be required to undertake additional duties appropriate to the pay band. The post may change over time to reflect the developing needs of the Trust and its services, as well as the personal development of the post holder.
Process Freedom of Information requests to ensure they are completed within the statutory timeframe.
Receive and record, acknowledge, respond to, and collate the information required to answer the information request within the boundaries of the Freedom of Information Act.
Maintain an accurate and up to date register of requests including details of any disclosures, refusals, fees, advice and guidance, produce regular reports for the relevant Committees or groups and monitor and track the progress of requests.
Be the designated contact for all enquiries relating to Freedom of Information. Co-ordinate responses to requests for information under the act and liaise with managers as appropriate.
Support the FoI Committee by organising meetings, taking minutes and preparing documents.
Ensure IG Office operates and maintains the highest ethical standards of confidentiality in managing patient and staff information.
Support the IG Assurance Manager to maintain the Information Asset Register
Provide cover for the IG Compliance Officer role to cover sickness and annual leave.
Support the overall Information Governance action plan.
Deputise for the Information Governance Assurance Manager as required.
