in Camden SLT Service for Young People (CSYP 11-19s+)

(CSYP work within mainstream secondary schools, colleges, SEMH settings and secondary school Autism Resource Provisions)

This post would suit an SLT who has a particular interest in assessments, universal provision and SEMH and/or who are wanting to develop their clinical skills and experience.

Join our passionate and innovative speech and language therapy team and share your expertise with Camden young people and the people who support them!

We have an exciting opportunity for a new speech and language therapist to join theCamden Service for Young People (CSYP 11-19s). This is a part time, fixed term Band 6 or Band 7 post. It is suitable for applicants who are currently at Band 6 or 7 level, and for band 6 applicants could be offered as a Band 6-7 run through post, in which you could be supported to move into a Band 7 role by the end of the 12 months.

Main duties of the job

CSYP provide: A 'specialist clinical' offer of assessment, advice and input for young people (YP) who have SLCN, aged 11-19(+), who live or access education/youth services in Camden

A 'Traded services' offer: SLTs may provide universal, targeted and/or specialist input within schools/settings who have Service Level Agreements for a specific number of days a week enabling a highly embedded approach to input, whilst also working within and accessing supervision and support from a wider team of SLTs working with the same age group

A 'Universal' offer of whole school/setting training and capacity building projects including our highly specialist 'Listen-EAR' (Enjoy, Achieve, Respect & Relate) consultative model

A 'centralised training' offer of both bespoke and specific training packages including ELKLAN for school staff, and Cygnet for parents of autistic children

A 'communication groups' offer within summer school holidays, including Year 11 school leavers groups, and a film making course

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc. Speech Pathology or Equivalent (including Dip. CST)
  • HCPC licence to practise, and Registered member of RCSLT
  • Successful completion of specialist/expert short courses relevant to field e.g. SEMH, trauma, Autism, Selective Mutism


Previous Experience

Essential

  • Of working at a specialist level in paediatrics
  • Delivering highly specialist training to a range of audiences


Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Of a specialist range of assessment tools and procedures to evaluate communication, speech & language skills
  • Of approaches to mentoring, advising, supporting and clinically supervising less experienced SLTs and support staff


Personal Qualities

Essential

  • Flexibility
  • Ability to reflect on practice
