We have a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Midwife to develop in the role of Antenatal Outpatients and Community services Manager within the Maternity Services at Hereford County Hospital. The post holder will primarily provide leadership and day to day management in the co-ordination of all maternity outpatient and antenatal areas.

The Post holder will be responsible for the management/leadership of all aspects of the maternity outpatient services and will demonstrate a transformational leadership style. With the support of the Matron for Maternity Outpatients, you will be responsible for direct line management of all non-medical staff within the designated clinical areas and will promote a holistic approach to care, support/coach staff in problem solving and decision making, set standards, facilitate change and participate in research and audit.

The post holder will be required to facilitate learning opportunities for pre and post registration staff ensuring that the clinical areas provide experience that is conducive to statutory (NMC) learning programmes.

  • Act as an advocate for women and ensure service provision is women-centred, evidence based, equitable and appropriate to individual need.
  • Work within the boundaries of autonomy in accordance with the NMC Code and all other NMC guidance.
  • Collaborate with senior managers and clinicians to develop and implement policies and protocols

Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Provide a high level of expertise and support for staff in dealing with incidents, complaints and sensitive issues, working closely with the maternity governance team.
  • Ensure effective multi-disciplinary communication with all agencies to ensure women receive the best possible care Demonstrate excellence in decision making skills to use all available resources in order to deliver highly complex individualised care effectively and efficiently

Person Specification

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Midwife
  • Relevant Diploma/Degree or equivalent
  • Additional qualification or relevant experience equivalent to that of a masters.
  • Mentorship & further relevant study & expertise


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Essential

  • Previous experience within relevant clinical area of practise
  • Previous experience in teaching/ training
  • Experience of analysing data to identify optional ranges and influence local decisions
  • Promoting quality improvement
  • Evidence of leadership skills
  • Developed Communication style which is effective, motivational and supportive, working with people who have barriers and opposition to change behaviour


Experience

  • Provide evidence of leading on audit programmes
